Brexit – the implications for our industry

Brexit means Brexit. But what does that mean for the recruitment industry at a time of economic uncertainty and restrictions on the free movement of people?

Uncertainty about the economic implications of Brexit for the UK may lead to businesses becoming more cautious about investment. They may freeze the recruitment of permanent staff. This would result in an increase in the demand for contractors, at least in the short term. On the downside though, the government’s focus on immigration could see a drop in available workers, both skilled and unskilled. End-user clients may turn to increased automation to cover unskilled work, while businesses needing skilled workers may have to face increased costs, delays and red tape in terms of visas and permits.
